Way I see it, its like this. Rock has a few good films actually and he is usually the highlight in his bad films, which says something for his acting ability.

He just needs more good films & good acting balance like the recent run of Batista.

Thats not to say Batista is overall better though plus Batista has yet to tackle any leading roles. So hes pretty underrated and seen in small dosages. I actually think they are pretty even in terms of acting ability and they both have some pretty bad stinkers on their resume.

People kind of forget some of Rock's range because of his recent run of films.

This may be the weirdest yet apropos reference I've read here in a while This is a good thread if we don't take it all the way there though.

Batista is taking the marathon approach to acting which may be better for him in the long run.

The Rock is a more than decent actor though he hasn't had a role that will lead you to believe he will cross over to elite. I can't blame him for attacking the action genre while the iron is hot though since Oscars don't do shyt but take up space on a bookshelf for some actors.

If you just look at the caliber of movies they're in, then sure, Batistas in better movies that are still big. But like someone else said, other than GOTG his roles are fairly small, whereas Rock is the star or co-star of his movies for 10 years or so

I listened on Batista on Talk is Jericho a while back, and one thing that came through is how serious he takes acting and how much he wants to improve his skills at the craft. He even said he avoids doing too many blockbusters or action movies because he doesn't want to be pigeonholed. It's pretty admirable, since he could be making easy money playing "big dumb action dude" in as many movies as possible.

We don't have nearly enough musical numbers from Rock in films.
