Regardless my friend understood as well. It has nothing to do with thinking women are below you...it's a matter of preventing a snow flake from becoming a snowball. You let a girl (or man) come late once...she gets a pass as long as she kept you informed/had a good excuse. If it consistently happens after that it's disrespectful...especially when they are the ones that ask you out.
