It was about race and gender. That thread about someone's friend who gets paid to play a slave for some rich white man. I found her actions to be deplorable, and he was attempting to relate it to history and how Black folks did all type of things they didn't want to to survive.

I guess in his eyes, our criticism is a form of shaming, and a form of Black men attempting control over Black womens bodies and decisions. That's the only way I can justify his viewpoint on a Black woman choosing to be degraded by a White man. And that degradation crosses both racial and gender lines. @Matt504

Being in control of what you are left with by someone else's choice is not the same as having control over them. If Black mothers and fathers were both in the household and Black mothers ruled over fathers, that would be a matriarchy. Black men not being in the equation by their own choice and leaving Black women holding the bag does not put Black women in control, in fact it puts her at a disadvantage.
