Honestly, after trying a bunch of wines with him on different occasions, I could start to tell the differences too.

Not sure how good everyone is or can get but you can taste slight differences. It’s about really someone alerting you about what you’re tasting too. Not everyone is gonna know what an old world wine taste like until you’ve paired enough of them against a new world one in order to taste the differences

Went to Vancouver for his 10 year vow renewals and they had a day at the park where we did just that; sampled wines and guessed where they were from.
