The both run the same programs and have the same hardware for the most part. You just have to get the best you can afford with laptops.
We cant all be experts in everything. I actually have an i5, 8gb right now and it'll get slow at times.Sounds like you're tech illiterate. We ain't got time to teach you macOS when you're used to Windows. Not a diss, just stating facts.
Just get a Windows computer and call it a day. Head over to Best Buy and let one of the reps help you out.
A 256gb SSD, 8gb of RAM, and an i5 processor is all you need for your workload. Get something with good battery life as well.
Im leaning towards one of these 2:You get what you pay for...you pay 2000 bucks for a windows lap top it will last you just as long as a macbook. Dont fall for one of those 349 black Friday laptops...I brought a $2000 gaming laptop in 2010 and it got rained on it's still running

Probably wont upgrade until this time next year unfortunately
Appreciate the input. No point in asking this question then. Tech changes quick and what's recommended today is not going to be the same when its time to upgrade. Either way, both laptops look like overkill for what you are doing. It's your money but I don't think you would benefit in anyway getting an i9.

OK I understand what you are saying now. See belowI dont know what RAM is, difference between i5 and i7Before i hopped on the tech forums and did some research on what all these terms mean i wanted to hop on here
Not all i7s are the same. You have to know which generation, the # of cores and the GHz.

Ice Lake is the new one with the 10nm. Theres a new 14nm with Comet Lake too i guess that might be more refined than ice lake. The 10 nm prolly leap it for next years gen. Its out now on a couple Windows, prolly hittin Mac next year.If you're spending that kind of money then wait for the new 14nm bullshyt from Intel

Yup and you’ll notice that the windows machine will cost about half of what the MacBook costsLook to the specs of the Mac you would get, find a PC that has those specs. Done.
So thats why the new 16inch mac stuck with gen 9Only for 13in right now, 15 and don't use ice Lake. Next year is Tiger Lake
