NFL News and Rumors: Flynn, Vick best option at QB for Patriots?

Despite a 31-24 victory over Miami on Sunday, New England is scrambling after losing quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a shoulder injury.

With Tom Brady out another two weeks and rookie Jacoby Brissett unproven, look for the front office to add a veteran NFL quarterback at some stage this week and several names have already surfaced, including a couple fans wouldn't expect.

Of course the biggest name available is Michael Vick and he has expressed an interest to play this season. With the Pats' looking to find some help now, signing a player that can come in and play now if needed is essential, especially with the Houston Texans game being played on Thursday night.

The time frame to learn an offense and be prepared in such short notice does limit what the team can do after just two weeks of action and with Vick, they get a proven commodity and a player that can help move the ball with his arm and his legs.

Do it, :beli:.

Patriots don't act like that. They will keep it in house unless real desperate. after Thursday they got a week and a half for Jimmy G to possibly recover and play his final game before Brady returns.

They need a backup for Thursday tho, assuming Jimmy won't dress. Don't think we want Edleman as our backup QB

Practice squad? or was that our 3rd string?

Would be interesting, wouldn't surprise me if they did go in with Edelman as the backup, this is Beli after all.

That would be quite cavalier of Beli especially headed against a good Houston D that gets after the QB. But I wouldn't put it past him. Actually, I'd say that would be an outright dumb move. Cuz if Brissett went down, not only would we lose a QB, we'd lose our best receiver who would be that 4th string's security blanket

I don't know who's on our practice squad...we have a QB? What's Mallett up to? At least he knows the offense.

Conflicting reports, some say he's day to day, and could be back for week 4. If they know now he's out for 6 weeks, couldn't they put him on the non-season ending IR to free up a roster spot?

Could you imagine the "system QB" meltdown some people here would have if Edelman started and had a decent game?:russ:.
