Phoenix is fine. Booker had a horrific game. If he just played ok it would have been a much closer game.
I think it's more to the contrary, to be honest.
I feel like Phoenix has played above their talent level, which speaks to the chemistry and roster balance they have, and Milwaukee has been slowly trying to figure out how to counter that, where Jrue and Middleton have struggled for extensive periods, despite getting to their spots whenever they want. The longer this series goes on, the more Giannis will continue to find a groove, and I don't know if any player on the opposing side will be able to match that.
As we all know, it's a make-or-miss league, and Phoenix are still leading 2-1, so they have the advantage simply off the strength of that, but almost all the indicators point towards them being in a dangerous spot. It's a classic revenge tale where the protagonist is down and wounded, but you just know somehow, someway, he'll overcome all that and triumph at the end: that's the position I feel the Bucks are in right now.
Milwaukee has to get out to big leads and hold them to win the series. They are not going to out execute or beat this PHX team in close games. If the game is close down the stretch, Booker and Paul's impact is greater than Giannis' because no matter how much of a groove he's in before the 4th, as long as he's shaky from the FT line things will be harder to close than they should be.
]Why do you say this like the Bucks didn't just beat a Nets team with Durant and Harden, where a number of the games were close, which Milwaukee won? Are you forgetting Game 7 where they had to come from behind in the final minutes to take the game to overtime where they had to "out execute" the Nets? Are you forgetting what Middleton and Jrue did down the stretch of that game? If they can beat Durant and Harden in close games why aren't they capable of doing it against Devin and CP3?
And I don't see why you're looking at this from an equation of Devin + CP3 vs. Giannis, when really it's Devin + CP3 vs. Giannis + Middleton + Jrue.
They beat KD and hobbled Harden, disingenuous post
As a team Nets were far more undisciplined than Phoenix. Not too mention more iso dominant.
Phoenix rarely makes bad mistakes & Milwaukee has been known to loose brain cells in critical moments.
Also you’re mentioning Jrue & Khris. The team as a whole has yet to really explode with Giannis on the floor
Which is what I alluded to in my previous post.
"I feel like Phoenix has played above their talent level, which speaks to the chemistry and roster balance they have, and Milwaukee has been slowly trying to figure out how to counter that, where Jrue and Middleton have struggled for extensive periods, despite getting to their spots whenever they want."
This Bucks squad has yet to shift gears, which puts the Suns in a difficult spot, because they've been performing well, and for the most part, their surrounding players have managed to hit timely shots. We've seen this from Milwaukee in the previous two series' where it's taken them a while to work into their matchups. I don't see this series being any different; the more it goes on, the more Khris and Jrue will come into the frame, which doesn't bode well for Phoenix.
The best chance the Suns have at winning this is killing the Bucks before they work out how to switch the light on.
Sooner or later we'll all see who the prophet is.
The Suns have the better coach, they have the best floor general in basketball, they have Booker, and a supporting cast that is deep and can all hurt you. The Nets had KD and guys that wilted next to him. The Suns have had consistent contributions all postseason from damn near everyone who's got playing time.
Also, in the clutch I'm picking PHX, because Giannis weakness is FT shooting. When the game gets tight, Milwaukee will be depending on Middleton and Jrue to make shots from 3, from mid-range, and from the line. Giannis will do work no doubt, but he's not going to be just dunking late in a tight game... he's going to be forced to hit critical FTs, and if he doesn't hit them at a high enough clip, the pressure will fall on his sidekicks to beat PHX. Where as on the flip side, PHX doesn't have that issue at all.
