No one knew the show was gonna be so successful and put Will on the map like that.

Yeah, by all means, the very premise of the show should have led an instant failure.

Now that I think about it, maybe that's the reason a lot of the first season episodes had so much social commentary in them--they didn't want it to come off as some overly goofy vehicle for a rap star.

Also to me, the show didn't really start hitting its stride till the 2nd season. That's when Carlton started becoming such a classic character too IMO.

Carlton still cracks me up to this day. They show re-runs every week day in the afternoons, if there's nothing else on I will watch them.
