Will basketball fans ever be as smart as baseball fans?

I don't know how good the stats for basketball will ever be, but WS, WS/48, PER and RAPM are all useful. But all NBA fans ever talk about is stupid shyt like playoff performance, championships won, mvps, all star appearances, worthless raw box score stats etc. If anybody talking baseball was using basic shyt like that they would be laughed out of the building. Maybe it will be better when NBA.com starts putting out their advanced box scores this year.

Most baseball fans aren't on the advanced metric wave either. I gotta listen to WFAN all day with callers wanting to put Ichiro in the leadoff spot or 2 hole when dudes got a .285 on-base percentage.
