Binged it today. Has one of the WOAT titles. I never paid it any attention because I thought it was a Western-esque documentary. Recently started watching Documentary Now and realized after the fact that one of the episodes is a parody of this doc.

I think we are lucky as a society that Sheela peaked before social media became a thing. She was mesmerising and charismatic with a Rihanaa-esque IDGAF vibe to top it off. She'd be undefeatable nowadays. As the doc progresses, she becomes less and less worthy of praise but about halfway through, she was amazing

Such a layered doc. Seeing the Oregonians abuse the political system was very relevant given what we're going through nowadays. On the flip side, watching Sheela slowly escalate towards a Machiavellian approach once she amassed power was haunting. Initially, she was acting within the law on some sneaky shyt. It smart/amoral to bring in the homeless people to vote in the election, but when they started drugging homeless people, it's like :whoa:

There's a sequel right?
I know Netflix (India) has a follow up doc with Sheela. Not sure if it's global tho.

My impression based on the trailer was that she is kinda Jordin Belfort status where everyone is now aware that she's a swindling PoS, but because she's famous, celebs still want to hang with her. Tbh, it didn't look like it was worth watching.
