From the March 2, 1998 Observer. Basically, they told him to job to Kurrgan and he said FU and walked out

Ahmed Johnson (Tony Norris) was officially released on 2/23. This stems from an incident at the television taping on 2/16 in Waco, TX. Johnson had nearly four years remaining on a five-year contract. It's no secret that the company wasn't happy with him, between his injuring people, his own constant injuries, and a poor workrate. In addition, because of losing momentum from the injuries, and losing even more steam with the heel turn and rapid face turn back that made nobody care about him, his stock had fallen tremendously since he was originally offered the deal and thought to be one of the potential top attractions in the company. He was instructed at the Dallas TV to do a job for Kurrgan using the claw, and refused and walked out. He never returned, missing TV the next night and his house show dates over the weekend. My feeling, given the knowledge going in that he would surely react this way because of what was asked, not to mention in being in Dallas where he wrestled in the early part of his career (and rarely did jobs then either due to his size), that the end result may have been more desired than what was asked. As it was, Titan has legally gotten out of his contract because he breached, because God only knows how bad it would have looked had they actually done that match on television and that he wouldn't have been worth a thing coming out of it anyway. Norris has since claimed to friends that he never refused to do the job, was never asked to do the job, but that he felt the company was burying him since he openly spoke on the "wrong side of the fence" on the touchy Survivor Series finish issue. Hey, that's what he claimed

He had so much potential but it got ruined. He spent more time injured than active and injured people way to much.
Back in 2013, Ahmed Johnson made allegation of racism/sexual harrassment against WWE
from lordsofpain

To clarify his recent racism allegations against the WWF: "To become the black champion in history there (WWF), it was so neat. But there was also a dull side to it, I lived in this fantasy land where I thought there was no more racism in the world, then I go out to my car and and someone had scratched ‘Congratulations ......’ on my car. I didn’t know who did it, nobody would fess up to it. I never found out who did it but you know I thought about it for a while and I asked Vince the question, I asked him why did it take them until 1996 to decide that they’d have a black champion because there was so many great black wrestlers before me like Junkyard Dog and other people. Why didn’t he give them the opportunity to be a champion and wear the belt? He got very upset about me asking that question. So that ended up being the end of me in the WWF after that. I didn’t want anything to do with him. The word I got from the booker Vince Russo, he told me after this was over and all the smoke had cleared, that they would have meetings about this and Vince and other people said that the American audience wasn’t ready for a black champion, which was bullshyt. Every time we went to Germany, Kuwait, India, I was the number one draw over there when we went."

:mjlol:this confirms patterson being a crooked gay dude

Thoughts on former WWF booker Pat Patterson: "Not so cool. He likes guys you know, I don’t have a problem with that, that’s cool. But when you start pushing guys based on who has the sexiest ass to you, I have a problem with that. I’m telling you this as a respect point, I’m gonna be honest, he was gay, there’s no secret about it. He did do some things that are unmentionable. He made certain wrestlers do certain things to get pushed in certain positions. That was his thing. He was a bully, a gay bully. The casting couch type thing but with males not females."

To Vince defense though there really wasn't a lot of black wrestlers who could be believable as a world champion up until the mid to late 90's. Junkyard Dog was over but not world champion over. Bad News Brown was the only guy in the late 80's who I thought could be a credible champion. If Johnson could have kept himself healthy he definitely could have been champion. Dude was really over with the fans in 1996. Mark Henry should have gotten the belt. Yes he was the WHC but let's be honest at that point in time the championship was a glorified upper mid card title. Barely above the intercontinental championship. If given the right angle I think Titus O'Neil and Big E could be champs but then that would mean the breakup of The New Day and Prime Time Players.:mjcry:

Speaking of promos here's a great throwback. Ahmed did a decent job but it's weird seeing Warrior without the facepaint.
