Ok.....hate to derail the thread....but do any of y'all ever wonder what kinda of stench you had to endure while getting some nappy dugout back then amongst those with meager living standards? Just with the lack of grooming, maybe early stage perfumed soap, long days out in the fields, etc. There had to have been a musk associated with sex that was borderline offensive. Everybody in the shack had to know when pops got some.

Poor diet and health. Poor health and diet can actually affect the way you look (look at before and after pics of drug addicts and alcoholics). Its not a surprise that Americans started becoming good looking around the 50's when the country started becoming more prosperous.
