Why was "T.I. vs T.I.P" not well-received by the public?

That just another case of this fickle ass music game..Tip was in a situation where even his "controversy" outside his songs will sell records.. Even when he's spittin that shyt nikkas hear about "T.I. did this, got locked up for that" they'll go buy the album, go to the gigs, movies etc etc

Once you get people used to controversy and fukkery people expect it on every album. And I think it's cause this was one of the first where he wasn't beefin with someone. T.I. and 50 Cent had similar careers when you think about it...

It was a rushed and unfocused album. You can tell that he was going through things after the death of his homie and that the label forced him to rush this out after the huge success of KING. It had some tracks but it was a step down in quality from his last two albums. I played it a lot back then but man I haven't heard it almost since it came out.

Of course the ATL
Conceptually it wasn't a well conceived album...the whole premise was to show the difference between TI vs. Tip, but outside of the skits none of the songs really made a clear difference for the average listener to follow along with. Big shyt Poppin was a good single, not great, but good. You know What it is was a nice follow up, but wasn't a hug hit. Hurt with Alfamega was the street single & did ok. Overall the album had flashes of good, but it just sounded lazy and unfocused.

That 106 & Park appearance doomed this album before it even dropped. Album was even worse than that cringe-worthy interview.

"Tell em I said that" is one of his greatest songs ever though.

down, down, down, down, down....
