Why was Jerry West awarded the NBA Logo? How has he maintained it this long?

League needed their white star to be on the logo instead of the black stars at the time because he was more marketable at that time. Nothing against Jerry, but to me that's the way I see it.

They're not gonna spend the millions on a rebrand for a "classic" logo that's been around since the late 60s. Second, they don't even acknowledge it's West which means no licensing fees. Which modern player is letting a multi billion dollar company use their likeness for free
