Hogan had to always be champion.
And all the monster heels (Andre, Bossman, Earthquake, Zeus) had to be fed to him. They only got the best of him during interview segments. Only reason Yokozuna beat him is because he was on his way out & couldn't leave with the belt. He wasn't going to WCW as the "Real, Real World's Champion".

No idea about Perfect honestly.

One knock on Perfect maybe he never kept his body in physically top shape.

I think he had so much natural strength and ability from his Dad he just never had to be in GYM like that to handle whoever.

1. Hulk Hogan was a super nova

2. WWF was a face territory. Superstar Billy Graham in 1977 was the longest reigning heel champion at 296 days, a record that wasn't broken until CM Punk's reign in 2011-2013 and even that's up for debate as half of it was as a face.

3. The Mr. Perfect/Hulk Hogan program did (comparatively) poor business. People weren't buying guys the size of Rude/Perfect beating Hogan for the title after his reign had been built around slaying monsters for years.

I dont think Rude or Perfect were top earners in the late 80s thats just facts...neither would have made anywhere near the money Hogan/Savage did with the title.....and Savage never beat Hogan he had to win a tournament at WM....You simply werent going over Hogan at that point.Even when Savage was the champ,Hogan still at the very least had equal billing as a non champion...

True, Rude/Warrior didn't do great business either (up for debate who/what the problem was, Warrior's drawing power disappointed everyone, but the industry was also heading in a strong down swing at the same time)
