They say that ALL MEN (<<< first red flag) are created equal they have to later add that black people count as humans. They have to specifically remind people that women deserve rights too.

What I take from this is that ALL WHITE MEN are created equal and everyone else is garbage who needs to serve their masters. With this as the foundation of the document, I reject it outright.

Now, if there's any good stuff in there, we can keep it but it is seriously time to just start over (like 'our' founding fathers did). The laws we have on the books are 10,000 pages long such that no one human can even tell you what's in the law. How do we follow/enforce laws that no one can explain?

Our "genius" political system hardly works. Lok at what the Repubs have done to the process just because of racism (back to the fundamental flaw with the foundation of the USA). The main problem is leaving government up to popular opinion. You wouldn't trust a group of Wal Mart mouth breathers to vote on how to fix your car, administer medical attention to your family, or even the rigth way to care for your lawn, so why do we think Joe Sixpack can choose a good leader? He can't most of the time.

Our country is run by lawyers and lobbyists (meaning the actual politicians are often lawyers who are beholden to lobbysists). Why wouldn't we employ experts in economics, social science, environment, and technology to run things? Why wouldn't the POTUS have to have a PhD in - you know - being the Prez?

It's not sacred. But you answered your own question in the bolded. That's why it's marketed as some sacred untouchable text :rudy:

No offense but your taking a sort of elementary look at it. We can't just start over. The only way for a new a beginning is for all of this to collapse. It's happening but I doubt it's any time soon.

True

HMM?? :ohhh:

:laff: There is lots of good stuff in there like umm...lets see trial by jury...hmm...maybe free speech.....how about habeas corpus (meaning a person can be be released from prison w/o enough evidence)......several others, might want to check out....read through it again breh.

Ok.....what laws are you referring to that are 10,000 pages long....the Constitution is probably 20 pages to 25 pages long. Anything after the Consitution is NOT the Constitution. If you have a problem with the excess amount of laws thats one thing, and by the way, most "laws" nowadays are regulations from the agencies NOT something debated and voted on by Congress and signed into law. Constitution is a compact between the people and government or some would say between the states and central/federal government ..... to prevent tyranny, since that is where the paradigm the founders came from a generation or two earlier. YES, the GREAT HYPOCRISY of the time when it was written is that the founders typically owned slaves themselves....none of that is debatable, its fact....BUT, the essence of the document ironically works for every living human being. Which is why you shouldn't reject it......it protects you from slavery and tyranny......which is why it is being reduced and has shatted on the past few years. It works to good.

Let's keep it real......stop blaming one party...its called "political theater" for a reason.....You say leaving government up to popular opinion is bad, b/se so much of our populace is zombified and living in a virtual dream state and/or lack "true" ability to look outside the box. I agree there are lots of sleepwalkers out there. However, your solution is that we should have technocrats like in China run the show........Yet, it's lawyers and lobbyists that have helped to put the country in the position it is now.......but instead of showing where they went wrong you insist that a technocracy, should run the show the and the people should have no say.........which is more or less a tyranny, which is exactly what "of experts in economics, social science, environment, and technology to run things? Why wouldn't the POTUS have to have a PhD in - you know - being the Prez?"

I think you have confused the Constitution with thousands of laws that "govern" our society and insist we get rid of the Constituion in favor of "czars" that tell the people what to do....and not the other way around.??? But don't you tink a bunch of technocrats would just institute their own plethora of laws that you would have to follow and then NOT BE ABLE TO have recourse against it.....which is what the Congress is suppose to do..... represent and protect the interest of the people??

The Constitution represents freedom, even if its writers were hypocrites, what you suggest is tyranny and neo-slavery
.......:why:???

:damn:

Here is a video on the "Technocracy", which you seem to be advocating OP

Flaws aside, it's supposed to represent the rule of law and promote stability. The main thing has always been the extent to the letter of the law (on surface) vs. the spirit of the law (intent). I'd get into it a little more but don't feel like thinking to that extent rt now :skip:.

Damn getting sonned by NWA :shaq2:

I do believe he put quite a few words in my mouth. Just because we start over and draw up a system that makes sense doesn't mean we become Cuba. We use the stuff that works and fix the rest. Just because you have someone actually educated in the field that they work in does not equal some totalitarian regime. It's as simple as requiring all politicians to be trained before they can run. Every single other institution in our society runs based on qualified people rising to the top.. Except the top positions that decide the fate of the country. Y'all seem to forget that Sarah Palin was a couple steps away from being VP and plenty of people in this country wish she was. Bush Jr.... Okay whatevs. Weird that I even have to spell this part out.

It isn't sacred, its quite flawed but because its backed by 200 years of interpretations and laws it works well enough. Its a great document but even Ruth Bader Ginsburg said that she would not recommend the United States constitution as a model for a modern state( she caught hell for that, lol).

Great Britain doesn't even have a constitution!

That wouldn't be recommend to a modern state but it does show you how much governments rely on unwritten frameworks because you can have these nice bylaws written down but if people don't respect them your fukked (like what happens in many developing countries). So tradition is a big part of government and our system is bogged down now because we have moved away from the unwritten rules that make our system functional.
