I interview people. When we ask that question keep in mind that

The people that we select to be interviewed all have similar qualifications

What we are asking is what can you bring to the position that is beyond the scope of the job qualifications. What sets you apart from the pack. Saying experience, education and skill is playing it safe, but it doesn't make me as an interviewer go "wow"

We appreciate extensive research on the position that you are applying for and we can tell when your responses are generic. Integrating the demands of the position and how you can specifically fill the role with detail showing you understand the position is what we're looking for.

i like this post.

but i can assure you no two candidates have the same qualifications. one will always have more experience. i work in the IT field, so experience in my opinion beats out anything.

how u can market ur experience is what will set u apart. and yes, integrating the position into your answer seals the deal. but i seriously doubt anyone can compete with experience and knowledge.

i'm interested in seeing if yall understand how to answer this question.

if a prospective employee asks this of you, what will you say? what have you said? be honest.
"I will be the hardest worker in your organization and I will make you a lot of money."

"Now, I personally don't have a deterministic outlook on all aspects of life, but I believe I was born for this role. I'm built for this. Everything I have experienced in my life has prepared me to be the most successful (job title) that you will hire."

Describing yourself as a believer in the Aristotelian model of excellence is another good one.

What job are you talking about saying statements like this?

Any revenue generating role in any firm for the first one.

Any role period for the rest.

If you're a black dude that can talk about "Determinism" and "Aristitilian excellence" you are a shoein for any position.

If you can frame yourself as a person that is at the next level intellectually and spiritually you make a very strong impression.

I always mention that I practice meditation and yoga. That also helps frame you as something… greater. It's the Obama model.

I'm honorable; reliable, and frankly I'm the best candidate that you want for this position.

why are you the best candidate?

This is why yall never get called back or get bummy jobs. What kinda response is that? "im the best man for the job" really? Why? Do you know who else applied and what they are qualified to do as well?? What makes you so special? Every one says they are the best, Do you have proof? No? Quality References? No???! Well we'll Review everything and give you a call if we move forward with you.

I typically save this for the Q & A portion of the interview. Gotta have at least 3 questions for the interviewer.....MESSAGE!!

As for the original question, I research the company firsthand with the expectation that I will be asked this and merge my background with the corporate goals and mission.

i just go in there on my chuckie sullivan stee :leon:
