if a prospective employee asks this of you, what will you say? what have you said? be honest.

To answer this question, you have to show the company how your skills can fit into the position, or in other words what is so special about you that's different than the other 20 people that they may interview for the position.

You have to get it in their mind that no one else will be able to bring to the table the skills that you have.

If the position requires a lot of attention to detail, customer service, etc, you talk about situations or experiences you've had in the past that correlates to those skills they're seeking. Then you wrap it up by saying this is why I'm the the perfect person for the position.

me. its very simple.

why should u hire me? i'll answer with with one word: Experience.

imagine that you're flying overseas with your family. who would you rather have in the pilot seat?

1. A seasoned pilot with years of experience

OR

2. A recent graduate of aviation school

remember the plane that landed on the hudson in new york? the pilot was an old man with many many years of real world experience. had he been anyone else, especially a recent graduate, that plane would have crashed.

so when you make that decision to hire me, know that you're doing what's best for the company.

I typically save this for the Q & A portion of the interview. Gotta have at least 3 questions for the interviewer.....MESSAGE!!

As for the original question, I research the company firsthand with the expectation that I will be asked this and merge my background with the corporate goals and mission.

I interview people. When we ask that question keep in mind that

The people that we select to be interviewed all have similar qualifications

What we are asking is what can you bring to the position that is beyond the scope of the job qualifications. What sets you apart from the pack. Saying experience, education and skill is playing it safe, but it doesn't make me as an interviewer go "wow"

We appreciate extensive research on the position that you are applying for and we can tell when your responses are generic. Integrating the demands of the position and how you can specifically fill the role with detail showing you understand the position is what we're looking for.
