it doesn't matter if one has a vulnerable model or not, the real problem is hmg decided to make the steering column housings out of cheap plastic that can be easily destroyed (saves $0.15 tho!). owners with the "security update" are immune to the usb trick but their rides still get trashed before the thief finds that out, at which point they'll prolly rip up the interior some more out of anger lmao. btw this kills the kia for months cause windows and steering column covers are on intergalactic backorder.

they’re inexpensive and somewhat “cool” looking (if you don’t focus on the brand name) especially if you want a brand new car…almost bought a santa fe (many many many years ago) as my first new car…I could’ve probably put the same money into a much cooler used car but I’d probably have to deal with more repairs early on too…with a new car I figured I wouldn’t have any significant problems for a good 3-4 years…that was of the utmost importance to me cuz my car at the time almost got us killed on the jackie robinson pkwy/interborough…my shyt just randomly cut off and it was around a bend so we couldn’t see cars coming and they wouldn’t have been able to see the car…and you can’t just really get out and walk on the expressway…at the time there was no shoulder or nothing just huge walls so we were basically sitting ducks…luckily it was early in the morning so there was no traffic behind us at the time and the car cut back on a few seconds later…scary af to think about in hindsight

Are they the most fun? No.
Are they the most reliable transportation? Yes.
