I agree I'm a big Larry June fan and his last couple of releases have been meh, for what I've grown to expect out of him. They don't suck, but I expect more out of him.

I always thought he was like a poor mans Wiz Khalifa. Simple easy to digest lyrics and a great ear for beats. But he has way less style and charisma than Wiz which leaves a lot of his shyt forgettable. Very hit or miss, and the hits have a ceiling, whereas when Wiz hits, his shyt really hits.

Wiz had a much better flow, and actually melodic ability for hooks

I been listening to June longer than I have Rice but i agree...I didn’t care for the Harry Fraud/Cooking Soul projects or the last one he just put out. I ain’t saying those were wack, I just think June is over saturating himself too much imo. He put out like 12 projects in the last 2 years which is crazy lol.

If he cut back on the number of mixtapes he put out, the quality would be way higher.

Forget The Yellow Album, I thought Dom was gonna blow up after this underrated gem.

shyt got so much burn...The Yellow Album Included, shyt all of his projects were in rotation

well that was before that abysmal By Dom Kennedy album came out.


Dom is obviously a underground legend and should’ve became more popular but compared to someone like Wiz? Wiz was destined to become a superstar no matter what. The cool stoner image with the ability to sing and naturally make catchy songs was what separated him from the likes of Dom and Curren$y.

I still check everything Dom does and I’ll say he’s trending in the right direction but he’s never gonna come close to the music he made in the early 10’s
