Netflix can’t win this one. Once funimation and Hulu ( which Disney is the major owner) made that deal Netflix was never going to catch-up. I’ll give them credit for Devil-man crybaby and Castlevania but unless they get an exclusive partnership with Mad-house ( which M.H. will never do) this is a losing battle for Netflix.
Yeah only people who'd go to Netflix for anime is people who own netflix already. seems like they're going for the lowkey cult anime jawns rn, but Hulu is always going to be ahead having the heavy hitters

Issue is that folks want to be able to watch simlucast shows as well, but Netflix doesn't do week to week shows.

By the time an Anime is done airing, its on Netflix like months later. Already seen it :hhh:

The original animes are hit or miss though. Castlevania was pretty good. We will see about Dragon's Dogma :patrice:

Best thing they can do is simulcast. They already started working with companies giving them bigger budgets and directly producing manga adaptation. @Nerdy black guy funimation is the middle man. Netflix goal is in orinigal content, not leasing someone else's.

They HAVE to knock it out the park with the live action Cowboy Bebop because that Death Note shyt was WACK and its looking like Netflix has an eye to do what Disney is doing and remake classic Anime’s as live action.

They only got one shot though. Cowboy Bebop is sacred ground within the anime fandom (deservedly so) so if the remake is a hit critically and commercially they’ll have a CRAZY amount of titles they could adapt and make bank.
Netflix bout to make a to white washed low budget adaptation. Most American ain't heard of Bebop either. :skip:

You didn't get the memo? Spike is Korean, Jet is Black, and Faye a Mexican for the Netflix series.

And even non-anime head 80-90s babies know about Bebop through Toonami.

IMO them shonen watchin' nikkas are irrelevant. :hubie: And I'm sure Netflix will have a decent production value for Bebop. Whatever your feelings on the acting/story for them almost none of their sci-fi shows look cheap.

TBH I haven't seen a cheap looking live action sci-fi series in a minute. Star Trek Discovery, The Orville and The Expanse all look good for regular TV shows.

Netflix can go back and get all them classic anime that anime heads love and the mainstream audience might have missed. And can. Produce new seasons, it could be japans gateway into an American audience. Imagine hunter X hunter or the new seasons of attack on titan and sword art online being a constant on Netflix. Or if they can fukk around and get dragon ball or one piece

Toei and Shueshia NEVER giving up rights to billion dollar properties like One Piece and Dragon Ball :mjlol:.

Anime is largely a device to sell more manga breh. Once there isn't more manga to sell usually there is no hope of further adaptation.

Netflix needs to get on the actual viewing cycle for anime, season by season.

Amazon already coming through and throwing bags for exclusivity and showing weekly episodes
