Kobe's failures have always been coated in a cum colored layer of fake machismo. They celebrated him still having the courage to take more bad shots when his other bad shots weren't falling. They celebrated him having the confidence and drive to try to do everything on his own even when it was detrimental to winning. Anything he did wrong was forgiven because it could be twisted into an alpha quality.

I remember him shooting like shyt against the heat and he did a post game shoot around for the cameras and suddenly the narrative was that he was more of a competitor than the guys who had just beaten him. His pull with the media is fukking legendary.

had a ray of hope when he hit the big shot in game 2 but that swarming defense was just too much to overcome. you couple that with the impending trial, flying back and forth to eagle, mailman's injury, glove not adapting to the triangle, team turmoil with lakers reloaded and we were bound to implode man. when i think back to that season i focus on fish .4 and try not to think of the finals lol

anyway back to bean because it does seem like i'm making excuses. right then and there i knew he would never equal or surpass michael, no way jordan wouldn't have overcome tayshaun and co.... hey it is what it is but he wasn't shook like king james. there's a difference

Also, bron had just come off of choking against Orlando and Boston the previous two seasons. People look back on it now like Bron was *supposed* to lose those series', but at the time the Cavs were heavy favorites against both those teams and Bron took heat for losing to them. Then he joined Miami and with all the theatrics they engaged in the first season, including mocking Dirk during the Finals, it's not hard to see why people went at him so hard.
