When ROH and NJPW sold out MSG in a couple hours the buzz was real, ROH had done the unthinkable. Mind you the reason it sold out was because people expected Omega and the Elite to be part of this and NJPW had as big of a role but it was still a massive W for ROH.
Then the show came in, no Elite, they're all gone and the ROH matchups were all average at best while the NJPW ones were excellent and to add insult to injury they brought Enzo and Cass. 2 of the most disliked wrestlers by fans that live the wrestling style NJPW/ROH/AEW follow.
That angle was a bust, had it been another tag team debuting with that same angle it would have been fine, just not these 2 buffoons.
This was their mist watched show ever, from PPV buys to attendance to people at MSG, ROH buried themselves, prior to that they had officially lost the Elite and interest took a massive hit but that mediocre showing and booking Enzo and Cass was the last nail in the coffin.
So you ask why's Enzo not in AEW? And I reply, all of the above
