In his case it mightve been worth rushing back to get the 65 games and awards votes for his contracts because of how those rules work
In general this is why guys should sit and rehab.
If you play through injury and arent as good everyone will say youre trash
Then, if you have to take even longer getting back into form because you rushed back, people will say youre still trash and you should be better by now, no matter what the medical reality is or if your team communicates about it with the "probable" and "gtd" designations
And by the time you are recovered, if ever, people will say things like "where was this when we needed it" and "I guess hes actually trying again"
Its better not to play than play through injury for everyone:
your team who has no chance without you at 100% and is better off with a better pick
the fans who dont care for reality and will complain more if you play and struggle than if you were on the bench
and of course yourself
