Why is the entertainment media so obsessed with the happy fat black woman trope?

Is it really an obsession? What other happy fat black women are on tv? I thought it was the sassy/angry fat black women that every show and movie had to have.

A mix of both. She may either be the happy mammy or the angry sapphire. Either way, Hollywood knows that they’re doing. Never want to showcase fit and attractive sisters unless they’re with the non black male protagonist. If she’s hefty she’ll be relegated to the sassy best friend of the white female protagonist. We see the play.

If they were really about body positivity, then why not showcase Gaborey Sidebe as a romantic lead opposite Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pine, Chris Evans, Chris Pratt or Henry Cavil? They wouldn’t. But why not?
