Can someone explain this. Cacs alway talkin about yea we can go to other planets and terraform. By that logic, why are they complaining about the environment on Earth and the rapid depletion of resources. Cant you just Terraform THAT shyt? :rudy: Hey look theres a desert over there in Egypt, terraform that shyt. Hey look Siberia, a place few people want to live, terraform that. Please explain this logic to me.

I've noticed the theoretical discrepancy between the two related ideals too. People seem to believe it more palatable to terraform a new planet before fixing this one. It might have something to do with the political and territorial squabbles which delineate this planet. The discrepancy might even have to do with a general sense of cognitive weariness. Some people just like the idea of transforming Mars into a hospitable planet. That said, if humans can't even terraform the Earth's agreeable environment, how much of a step would it be to terraform an inhospitable wasteland like Mars?

upset? i'm not the one with (at least) 3 names who decided to log into his angriest alias to post an obvious nonsense thread.

i was just asking man. i mean, just this question alone, you could've done it as mowgli or mr. somebody but you used this one. i'm actually kind of curious about how and why you decide who you choose to post as at any given time.

What are you bytch ass nikkas upset about? Mephistopheles im afraid it will be centuries before science can terraform some hair follicles on your bald ass scalp.

Higher Learning is supposed to be a place where people can ask interesting questions and get real answers, not derision and antipathy.

Yea it just makes no sense. If you can terraform mars, which looks like earth post annihilation, why couldnt say, the Mojave Desert be transformed into farmland. I think terraforming is code for *how can we get the fukk off this planet and make our heaven elsewhere*

Reforestation? Afforestation? Nobody's heard about reversing desertification in the Sahara now?:upsetfavre:

not to mention we've very far away from terraforming another planet/moon
If scientists feel terraforming will one day be a possibility, why should we care about the environment?
