If you watched the WWF IN 2000, Austin was definitely behind the Rock when he came back. Rock wrestled more on Raw and Smackdown..his return match put the WCW TITLE over Austin after shooting the movie.

Steve Austin had nothing to do with the Rock becoming a draw in 98. I have no idea where u got that notion. The fans created the Rock phenom...they really wanted him to lose for a long time before marking out at Summerslam.

Austin being the top star gave Rock a chance to grow as a character.

Vince needed a top babyface and wanted to make blue chipper -Rock a face. But it wasn't working. Austin being on top gave Rock time grow into a character and eventual #1 contender.

Again, the company might not have lasted much longer if there was no Austin.
