The Devil's Advocate
Call me Dad
This....Because it works.
Kevin Hart once told a lesson he learned from Eddie Murphy. Eddie was explaining why most comedians don't have good acting careers. He said that comedians always want to try and ACT like someone else. Disappear into some role. If they wanted you to disappear, they'd call and hire a real actor. They want me playing Eddie Murphy, playing a cop. Or me playing Eddie Murphy, playing an ex con. They want the laugh. The voice. The jokes. The comedian...... They don't come to a Kevin Hart movie to watch him act like Denzel Washington..
You think it's so simple, but it's truth. People hire RR to see Van Wilder. They don't want to see him playing some straight lawyer. They'd just call Leo or somebody for that. They don't want Tiffany Haddish acting like Julia Roberts. They'd just call Julia Roberts. No they need a ghetto black woman, call Tiffany.. They need a boyish grown ass silly man... Call Ryan... They need a funny black guy but not too ghetto, call Kevin...
They wouldn't even call these people if they came in trying to seriously act.
