Why is online attention/followers so important to women?

I say this as a breh who gets compliments more frequently than the average person.

I get compliments from women on my shoulders and arms occasionally.
I get props from men on my shoes, car, or lifts in the gym. I say thanks and KIM.


I’m tryna figure out why a lot of women on dating sites care about IG so much.
These aren’t women with 100k+ followers getting endorsements.
These are regular women with less than 5k followers. Getting an extra follow won’t change their life, getting a man can. But they’re more focused on IG.

I honestly think it’s more of an American thing… these hoes trynna gain fame.

Foreign hoes often have their pages set to private unless they selling a product, service or box.

Edit: Also foreign hoes: men aren’t trickin on them like that either. Most of the world is poor

it's the basic structure of social media. The tech itself wants to keep you engaged, you need a metric, a reward for that time and effort spent. That comes in terms of followers. Also, likes. Comments. DM's.
