The issue is and forever will be a good majority of fans don't actually like hoops, or more specifically, they prioritize what they use hoops for over actually liking the game.

You have keyboard militants like @Squirrel from Meteor Man who use is it to cosplay in some schoolyard sparring match, using Black players as figurines on some pro-Black shyt, purely overcompensating, trivializing racial matters of actual importance. And then the next breath, they recite racist talking points about Black players they don't like (see all of @Squirrel from Meteor Man posts about Bron and Dray).
