Why is it no animated shows or movies with black kids as leads.

I didn't know whether to create this thread in the roots or the film room. And I don't want this thread to be a race troll thread, but I was looking for shyt for my son and daughter to watch with black kids as leads or geared towards black kids and there was slim to none. At least my Daughter has princess and the frog even though she spends most the movie as a fukking frog and Doc Mcstuffins but ain't shyt out there for my son if you want to count lil fukking bill or fat Albert which is off the Air bc Bill Cosby cant keep his hand to his fukking self or gullah gullah Island which I haven't seen on air for years. How do we have channels like B.E.T. and T.V. one and no one has decided to have some animation with black kids as leads or geared towards black kids especially in 29 fukking 16 is frustrating. Can't wait for the Black Panther movie to come out next year and thinking about adding that Muslim movie Bilal in the rotation for my son even though I ain't fukking Muslim just for some diversity of kid shoes and movies for them. As a Parent this shyt is frustrating

There's definitely an underserved element. Even as a kid I don't remember watching too many animated movies or shows with black kids as the lead. The few that jump to mine are Bebe's kids (which isn't for kids lol) and the live action flicks of the 90s that were ensemble joints: mighty ducks, heavyweights, little rascals, little giants, the sandlot, etc and even then it's slim pickings.

As for BET and tv one, they probably have the numbers to determine that there aren't a lot of little kids who watch their channels so they see it as a wasted investment and there probably aren't a lot of parents calling for it, minus yourself and maybe a few others. I don't have a kid but I'm assuming they can just be sat in front of Cartoon Network or Disney XD or a comic book flick and be good at this point? The networks seem more interested in catering towards adults and the ones that do cater to kids are cool with talking animals.

I can't imagine how frustrating that would be but I guess my mom had it easier because idk if she ever cared that much as long as I wasn't cursing at her or acting up lol. I gravitated towards more talking animal/ fantasy shyt anyway. Sonic the hedgehog was my vice.

I'm mad I don't have the capital bc I believe there is a market out there that is not being serviced and black brehs with the capital are missing out hence why the market goes back to what is out there. Pretty sure I didn't phrase it out but hope you understand what I'm trying to say.

Nah it makes sense completely. But I think also for me, it didn't matter what I Was watching as long as I was entertained. I never got into Static but I was glad it existed for the cats coming up behind me (pause). And most of my friends grew up watching the same shyt we all reminisce about cartoon wise and movie wise. The difference though was we had more black sitcoms on that maybe we shouldn't have been watching

Beyond the lights is very dope and you'd think it would've had a bigger impact seeing as how it was the same woman who brought us love and basketball. But yeah we don't support the shyt we do get when we get it unless it's ratchet shyt, hood shyt, or anything in between.
