Black earnings in the US have been directed largely into those two areas. With the peacocking required to stay "relevant" in both - media expectations firmly in place - wealth accumulation by default cannot be the focus. Hence why athletes and entertainers for over half a century spent like there was no tomorrow, and "ball til you fall" is still the catchphrase of a generation.

Workforce and entertainment.

Robert Smith black American worth 5 Billion.

He is rare in that he is a black American who ancestors are multigenerational with advanced degrees.
He is groomed to do big things.

Or Black American billionare Byron Allen of onwer Entertainment Studios his mother was a professional TV producer with a college degree in that field.
Rare for black Americans to have a parent like that.
He followed suit in that profession.

Bill Gates father got the GI Bill to go to college and became a lawyer.
Our black American Grand Fathers/Great Great Grandfather were excluded from the GI Bill.

White people got Affirmative action from the US Govt.

Bill Gates Sr.
Gates served under the U.S. Army for three years during World War II.[3] After the war, Gates attended the University of Washington under the G.I. Bill,[1] earning a B.A. in 1949 and a J.D. degree in 1950. While at Washington he joined the Chi Psi fraternity. He co-founded Shidler & King in 1964, which later became Preston Gates & Ellis LLP (PGE). He practiced with the firm until 1998, when it was merged into the firm now known as K&L Gates (with which Bill Gates Sr. is not affiliated).

When your father is a lawyer he can pass those skills to to you and

Bill Gates Sr. Founded Microsoft with Bill Gates Jr.

How many black Americans have that?

Also Bill Gates had access to computers growing up during a time when very few Americans (especially) blacks had access to that type of cutting edge technology.

Him and Zuckerberg came from families that could finance their business endeavors.
