Why in the hell did they pick Charlotte for the nude ESPN Body Issue?

You mean to tell me that ESPN decided to find a tall, lean, muscular/athletically-built blonde who is positioned as the "face" of her particular sport to pose for their special edition magazine?

OK then.

I mean, they could have picked Sasha, Naomi, Alexa, or any of these other women who have a significant other that might take offense to their lady being shown off in this light -- regardless of how tasteful the photos may be -- but instead, they chose the one who looks most like today's female athlete.

If they were really with the shyt they would have chosen Nia Jax and checked off all kinds of boxes: minority representation, body positivity, etc.

Becky, Carmella, Dana, Lana, Alexa, The Snack™

All cacs and all better options.

:mjlol: at the bolded.

But, I don't think the point of the issue is to just put the best looking bodies in there. This isn't Playboy or Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit magazine.

The point is to show that athletic excellence comes in all shapes, sizes and builds. Becky, Carmella, Dana, Lana, Alexa and all they look like they work out. Becky might be the only one who looks like a legitimate athlete.

Charlotte is built like an athlete. They still should have chosen Nia Jax.

Dana has her IFBB pro card. :dahell:

And that's cool. :ehh:

I agree they are all more appealing to look at than Charlotte.

But I also believe you -- and other opponents to this decision -- looking at this from a "Who do I most want to see naked?" standpoint. ESPN isn't looking at it from such a standpoint, and if they were, that noise should have died when they put Vince Wilfork in one of the issues.

The white men funding these magazines aren't really trying to see black bodies outside of their hotel rooms

Normally, I'd say yeah but they've had black WNBA players, track stars and Serena nearly every year it's existed.
