Why Hollywood treats Angela Bassett like she's a B or C list star actress?

I've noticed that nobody offering her a leading role in any movies or tv series like (Netflix, HBO, Showtime, Hulu, Amazon Prime) like she used to in 90s but all of a sudden she's on whack ass NBC's tv show called "911" where she plays a police. She was supposed to be on the same level as Meryle Streep. You know damn well nobody gonna offers Meryle a role on NBC's tv series.

Angela deserves better than that.

"This is a career about images. It's celluloid; they last for ever. I'm a black woman from America. My people were slaves in America, and even though we're free on paper and in law, I'm not going to allow you to enslave me on film, in celluloid, for all to see. And to cross the water, to countries where people will never meet people who look like me. So it becomes a bigger thing than me just becoming a movie star, and me just being on TV. So if you're going to show every black woman as 400lb or every black woman as the prostitute on the street ... But I have always maintained that [the roles] I cannot do because of the way I'm made up, or because of the way I think, I don't begrudge that there is someone else who has no issues with that."

:salute:

she had a recent interview where she mentioned why she'd no longer hold back from doing said roles, but the spirit was more or less the same.

Make sense. I remember she turned down a role in Monster's Ball where Halle Berry played and Halle Berry won the Oscar award.

She's acting on 911 and she's also an EP. She gets steady work but you're forgetting she also falls into the over 60 category of female actors and she's black. She is a world class actress but I'm not gonna act like people are braking down doors for black actresses over 60.

Because she refused to sleep with certain men and she refused to take derogatory parts like Halle Berry did.

Angela is a true queen. Keeping your dignity and not selling your soul/body in Hollywood is rare. Her husband is wonderful I've heard as well...both as an actor and as a family man. It's no wonder they've been married for decades.

1. It's on FOX

2. She IS the lead on that show

3. She chose to do that show, so you might wanna ask her.

Right. She's not just an actor on there, she's an EP as well as a director. She probably has the most control and say so she's ever had doing that show. Not to mention it's a good show. She's getting checks on checks on top of checks.

and that show does crazy ratings. That's as bulletproof of a franchise as they have.
