That's why rap is fukking garbage thanks for clarifying
You’re responding to a young outsider white girl.

To answer the question OP, it’s cause his name is simply Nick Grant, and doesn’t have some type of gimmick. He has some dope album, and I can name some standout verses by him, but he doesn’t have some type of gimmick for mainstream folks to latch onto him.

He didn't sign to TDE though. He let Punch waste his time with some bullshyt rappity rap shyt/management when he should have been learning to write songs.

That period of time made no sense to me as a fan of Nick and TDE. Seemed like such a fumbled opportunity when You consider the current roster and the fact that he’s made better music than them over the last 3-5 years.

He did get significantly better as a songwriter afterwards though otherwise he wouldn’t have been able to pull off the R&B/Funk album that he dropped last year.

He reminds me of a really good center coming out of college who goes undrafted. 20 years ago he may have been a top 10 pick, but times have changed. He's stuck in the 90's, people want new.
Trayce Jackson-Davis azz nikka.
On a serious note, music industry has never been about music, its about captivating a fan base who buys music.
In the 90s, guys Nick would get proper push to get noticed. Nowadays, labels want artists to push themselves.
This guy needs a gimmick to get a fanbase.

I don't wanna hijack the thread, but the one guy I always look at and wonder why he ain't big is Sy Ari Da Kid. He sound just like Drake, makes music for girls and guys. I understand Nick Grant not being appealing for all the reasons listed above, but always wondered why Sy Ari ain't way bigger. I don't even like his music all that much, but always felt like he fit's in that Drake category. He's like the one artist that I always wonder way he ain't super mainstream.

He said he’s working on an album completely produced by Trackmasters. I’m interested to hear how that sounds because I can’t remember the last time I heard their production. Nick Grant has a great ear for beats so I’m sure it’s gonna be good, regardless.
