Vlad's career OBP .379, and for such a free swinger, the most he ever struck out in a season was 95 times (and that was during his third season). Other than one season where he struck out 88 times (when he was 26), he never struck out more than 77 times in a season. 77 times! Curtis Granderson could do that in 2 months.

Yeah, Vlad was prodigious. I find him oddly underrated. At some point he seemed to become more popularly known as a great bad pitch hitter than an overall hitting prodigy a la Manny.

Vlad's a special case. If Vlad learned how to hit here instead of in DR, he might have hit .400 in a season. However, he also wouldn't swing at the shyt he swung at. He's probably the best bad pitch hitter of our time.
