Anyone saying because he's light skin or bi-racial are likely white people....reason why some on here didn't like him because they missed John Stewart + he seems to always sound like an old black woman
This is the case amongst Africans as well though. They don't all rock with each other like thatOn the African-Americans ain't African trope:
I think people need to understand the history of why we desire a connection to Africa. We didn't come here by personal choice and when we did come here, a lot of cultural things were either ripped from us or so meshed up (due to our ancestors being different tribes) that we created a completely brand new culture. I liken us to babies ripped away from the mother against their will and have been lost in the new home while trying to find the old home.
White people stay bragging about their Irish, Italian, German, etc; ancestries and never get checked for it. We decide to have a connection and get shamed instead.
With that said, I can see why more Black Americans want to move away from the African-American designation. Whether we want to admit it or not, there are strong culture and experiences differences between Black Americans and other non-American Blacks that sometimes clash. Admitting that does not mean one is trying to create division.
I really learned that when I left home and came into contact with Black people from Africa, the Caribbean, etc;. There was some cultural things we just couldn't relate to and yes, I have personally dealt with some that look down on us Black Americans and want nothing to do with us.
EMPHASIS ON THE WORD SOME. Don't come giving me a rage induced essay.
Anyway, I get really uncomfortable when we lay out community problems out for the cac world to see because they just take advantage of it. Also, I've noticed a lot of cacs lately have been trying to distort some things. Dictating to our identity and even claiming our slavery wasn't as bad nor different from other races in slavery throughout history.
Y'all better get your ownership cause these folks are getting ready to rob you again.
