Most of the time its techno or pop because its generally what gets people hyped.

What do you want to hear? Nas? Where do you go that they play Justin Beiber?

Almost 2013... if you can't afford some form of portable music player to avoid this issue, that's on you.

it's the gyms that want to cater to everybody, especially if they want women to come, that plays that garbage. Them more underground, hardcore gyms will be on more masculine music.

If I can afford a gym membership, than obviously I can afford a portable music player (I have a Zune HD). My question was more or less the philosophy behind them playing pop songs. I've yet to hear any Mama said Knock You Out or Ruff Ryders Anthem at the gym. If I'm not working out with my earphones on, I'm on the bball court, so the music isn't an issue for me personally.
