High self esteem is problematic to systems of perpetual oppression like white supremacy here. Same question they had during slavery when we would have our own celebrations and that led them to wonder about how we could be happy in dire situations

This is why they constantly feed us distractions, if we're going to be happy in dire straits anyway may as well give us more distractions. It's obvious if we are left to our own devices without their input we will excel. So all the self depreciating music that is the most marketable, white owned sports teams that contain a vast majority of black men, the decline of rnb that display black love the rise of trap music without much competition.

When you add the pieces together it's alot. The more we struggle the more creativity we produce for them to steal and use to market as popular culture which is then mass marketed around the world. Black people in America are culture machines and America would be nowhere without it. But the whites then feel inferior because blacks and other ethnics worldwide create culture and it's the one place they just cannot dominate so they market and profit off it instead.

Meanwhile keeping us churning out that culture. Tom and Fred from accounts will come to a migos concert sing about bytches and hoes and separate themselves and their women because the bytches and hoes are black women not white women.

And the cycle continues.

I would say that the majority of people confuse confidence and self-esteem with arrogance.
I believe that arrogance is a by product of both. I’m arrogant @ my 9-5 because I’ve put the work in and it intimidates not only cacs but other brothers that I work with

I'm surprised the cac residents of TLR haven't derailed the thread yet.

Black people defying the stereotypes white supremacy set out against us is a mood killer for white people and other non-black people. They know when we have high self-esteem and confidence we're naturally better than them at everything.

We have to be constantly suffering in their eyes.

yup cause if we aren't suffering. or we're.... god forbid, excelling, then they can't feel superior.

Other races hate it too, no matter how hated they are by white people. Because they can't say "well.... at least I'm not black" anymore.

At least you're conscious of being arrogant :yeshrug:lots of people put in work but don't feel the need to be arrogant about it. But I agree that it can be a byproduct. And the line between confidence and arrogance is a thin one, and more importantly it's not the same for everyone. Without even mentioning the differences between countries/cultures.

Part of it is due to being jaded after a decade of corporate work life, other part is knowing that I'm on a marathon and mission to continue and advance my career while providing a service that the company has hired me to...not much time in between for yuking it up or worried about hurt feelings

Dont get me wrong, I'm cordial, genuinely care about coworkers that reciprocate the energy and try to get along but when its go time then I gots to get it :mjlit:

I can't get mad at that, sounds like some kind of "strategic" arrogance that comes from pushing yourself to get the job done and progressing :ehh:
