Above the fray.
The funny part is they hate well off people, yet they claim to want to have generational wealth for their family. People are so lost.
It's because they are merely repeating slogans and catch phrases, not expressing their actual beliefs and views. That's why they contradict themselves so much.

Any "man" that boasts about designer clothing, jewelry, etc... is feminine. Only a male with the mind of a girl boasts about wearing another man's creation, or eating at a certain man's restaurant, or driving another man's creation.
I kinda feel what you’re trying to say but if you feel like that, why not just live off the grid in a cabin somewhere? If a man is not supposed to desire anything created by another man, in a capitalist economy where everything is created by other men, what are you supposed to do?

Since you mentioned it, have they supported the young family members who made better decisions and want to do things with their lives? Sharing advices, resources and networks? 9 times out of ten, the answer is yes.

How/why could they help the dude who doesnt want to help himself, and goes in and out of the system?

The younger family members who have "made good decisions" don't need their support, most of them have a stable two parent household.

1. Because he doesn't know any better did not have guidance
2. By giving him guidance and financial assistance.

This is your family, so you're speaking your experience.
But a few things I disagree with in general.
The idea that your younger relatives from stable homes wouldn't and don't benefit from the more successful relatives is off. I specifically asked that question because a person who is on track to be a tradesman, professional, or business owner can DEFINITELY benefit from having successful older relatives.

Also, I'd guess that your family is the exception not the rule. Most extended Black families have a member or branch of the family who have more, and who share their resources to help the others. It's not always money, it's not always done publicly so that everybody else knows, and it's not always the amount of resources requested, but they are the first ones asked for help.

*Hope your cousin straightens his life out, and that you're helping him the best way you can.

All we got is us.

Isn't there a document on Black folk whom have done well. Otis Graham rip OG wrote a book on his trek to doing well. You got true OG's aside from Hov and Diddy.

What about Kenneth Chenault head of American Express? What about triple OG Clarence Avant ? They aren't technically relevant but to the right folk who know they got real clout and long paper.

Hell even OG Kevin Samuels spoke on it. We are the only one who hate folk with generational fcku u paper I'm talking OG Wasp money or something similar not involving sports or music.
Black men more than any of other group have a harder time seeing another brother as “better” than them based on career/financial success than any other group. There’s a built in resentment when someone that looks like us becomes a success (which is why so many dudes attribute any Black dude’s success to the illuminati or to them having done some wild sex act or them c00ning as opposed to they just worked harder/smarter than you did). So many brothers have a negative attitude within themselves that they’re being held back by greater society, so they don’t even try, that they get upset when they see someone else who looks like them who DID try and actually succeeded.

Europeans are still spending money from the slave trade.

Slave-owning families are still rich till this day.

I'll never be ashamed of the work that my grandfather and father put in.

fukk that street shyt.... money is power... and I'm trying to be powerful

This.

Whether y'all like it or not, power respects power.

@ab.aspectus

Didn't want to sully/distract from the main thread, so will write this here.

I respect that people weighed in on this video and topic with their honest opinions, but the reactions are along the lines of why film and tv producers think they have to alter Black themed projects for mass Black audiences.

And why the Black exec felt comfortable asking LOG "why would a Black person chose the college that you did?" at a business meeting with white execs.

And why the OKOP show creators wrote up YaYa Dacosta's character background how they did.

For mass audience ratings, show has to reflect mass audience sensibilities.

I hope the upcoming project by Ms. Jefferson is on a niche channel that attracts viewers who want to see that type of content. Similar to how there are arthouse movie theaters. If it's on any type of widely distributed platform, the number crunchers on the project will suggest compromises to the story. And they will be justified.
