Right wingers being dishonest on purpose.
Republicanism falls under democracy.

Democracy started in Greece and even back then not all people voted yet we understand of it as Democracy

And it's always white guys. A republic is a form of democratic government. You learn this in your average middle school social studies class. Yet they use it as a gotcha whenever someone says the electoral college is unconstitutional
In their minds it's not the same thing although as you said a Republic is a form of democracy, it's just not a direct democracy. In short they know if we got rid of each state having 2 Senators and the Electoral College, and had a more direct democracy. Conservatives would have no power federally. Their political views are wildly unpopular despite what colibrehs claim.

While often categorized as a democracy, the United States is more accurately defined as a constitutional federal republic. What does this mean? “Constitutional” refers to the fact that government in the United States is based on a Constitution which is the supreme law of the United States. The Constitution not only provides the framework for how the federal and state governments are structured, but also places significant limits on their powers. “Federal” means that there is both a national government and governments of the 50 states. A “republic” is a form of government in which the people hold power, but elect representatives to exercise that power.

A political system that allows the citizens to participate in political decision‐making, or to elect representatives to government bodies.

The United States functions first and foremost as a republic, the democratic process allows individual people to vote for their representatives to represent them within the republic. Federalism separates state government - and state law - from national government and law.

Politics confusin' for the language, political structure and structure of the language that describes and defines the inner working of the nation. That's why law is a popular way in to politics.

I dont know if this country is supposed to be a democratic republic or a republican democracy. Its like finding out that a social democrat and a democratic socialist are two VASTLY different positions.

Constitutional brehs, enlighten me cause Im sure the founding fathers or whoever didnt envision... uh... whatever it is that we got going on now... plutocratic, oligarchic free market with almost non existent social safety nets? No that cant be what they threw all that dang tea in Boston harbor for

A republic is s government of law
A democracy is government by vote (majority rule)

A democratic-republic is meant to be a balance between the two, a check and balance system

In world of majority rule, the individual is the most oppressed minority

They proved during the Trump years they believe their white majority allows them to do to minorities as they please, because (minority
sacrifice) is being carried out to benefit the majority. This is how the White man understands "democracy".
