Why do so many movies have low volume dialogue and high volume music?

I mean it seems EVERY time I watch a movie they simply can't get it right. like the dialogue is often low as hell. so I turn up the volume. then some music or action happens, and that's louder than a MF'er. I wonder why this happens with so many movies. it doesn't seem to be really prevelant on TV tho.

This happens to me more-so with watching TV. I'll turn the volume down so I can hear the words when I'm trying to go to sleep but then some action happens and it gets loud as fukk and I have to turn it down passed the point where I can't hear the dialogue anymore. Or a commercial will come on that is loud as fukk too. I can't think of any movies this happened in recently but I swear it's happened before and has annoyed me.

You can change your audio settings...especially with a surround system I've had this issue before...but I don't know exactly how to fix it my current system just doesn't have that issue no more and i guess I have the right setting

turning up the center speaker usually helps

a lot of movies are mixed where they expect you to play them pretty loud

Are you watching through the TV speakers and if so what direction are the speakers for that tv facing? In newer flat screens the speakers are facing the rear since it decreases the amount of bezel on the tv. That fukks up the sound when watching programs meant for better speakers.

Long story short you need some external speakers.

I'm using regular tv speakers. I hardly ever bother to turn on surround sound.
