Why do shows on FX and AMC allow the word "$hit" but not "f*ck"??

I mean I'm currently watching sons of anarchy, but the same goes for breaking bad, and the walking dead.

so far on sons alone, I have heard the words:

shyt
bytch
p*ssy
dikk
t*ts
cocksucker


and if they say all that, why stop with the word fukk???? It makes no sense.

Which is kinda silly but it is what it is.

in theory, but its really bullshyt. cuz, shows like the walking dead get HUUUUGGGGEEE ratings. and I highly doubt that would change if they started to say fukk on there. sponsors will still support shows that generate ratings regardless.

and lets be reality, shyt and fukk are both curse words, so why is one worse than the other?

It's not FCC. It's "standards and practices", in this case for AMC. I dunno about FX though. They can't say fukk as many times as they want. They let 1-2 slide a season per show. This is info straight from the writers of "Breaking Bad".

Standards and Practices also determines how gory a show on AMC can be, and sometimes "The Walking Dead" runs into problems. But yeah....just because you're on cable doesn't mean you can do whatever you want. HBO, Cinemax and Showtime obviously have little to no restrictions.

You know how it is though. shyt makes no sense. Can't say fukk or show some titties but you can have 15 zombies tear someone into pieces, or melted bodies falling through ceilings.

Occasionally they do run into problems with violence and gore. The boxcutter scene from "Breaking Bad" had a few seconds shaved off due to it being too graphic. I dunno what their logic is in determining what gets shown or said, but this info is from the writers.
