This is a stupid ass question really.... Plenty of things in culture, science, philosophy etc are terminologies adapted from religion and using them is just a matter of familiarity.
don't they use common era and before common era now? (CE and BCE)
i dont know what makes it "stupid" besides never being asked about
what great event happened at that point in time to make it such a familiar thing for everyone to agree is the point time stopped counting down and started counting up?
i havent ever heard that used in any setting ive been around personallyin any case what makes the eras common and not common
nobody disagrees that the advent of christianity has a huge impact on history.... Also like Dirty Mcdrawz said the nondenominational CE are used now

after a quick google search i found out that the usage of common era and before common era has been used since the 1700s and became more popular during 20th century in academic and scientific fields.
i don't think it works that way breh
:...: it isnt used everywhere but im still wondering why we counted down then counted up with no "year 0" inbetween, why is that significant enough to even have a ce/bce? same question different terminology
and i essentially answered that already. convenience..
Jesus the man did exist, that's not even debatable.
The debate comes in when talking about Jesus the deity.
