Why do people pretend John Legend isn’t trash? :jbhmm:

:whoa: Not talking about his politics nor his wife, just musically.

1) What’s his staple song? When I say staple I mean what’s his “in da club” “lose yourself”, “Jesus walks”

2) I’ve NEVER heard anybody get excited or eagerly anticipate his albums announcements or releases not even women

3) His album sales are respectable, but honestly I don’t fully believe them. I’ve just never heard people playing his music or talking about his projects

For somebody with 10 Grammys (Brian McKnight has 0), seen as the face of male rnb, movie roles and top billing everywhere he goes - his music just doesn’t match any of this :manny:

His first album was decent and Revolver was a nice album. That song Green light was a childhood favorite breh.

Also, His affiliation with Kanye helped a lot. He reminds of Stevie Wonder if you drained Stevie of most of his interesting qualities. No hate on him. His albums are okay, but he is very bland to me. Voice ain’t nothing special either. Also something about him screams safe negroz Can’t put my finger on it tho cuz he seems pro black or at the very least anti racism

There’s a whiny, unsupported quality to his voice. It lacks intensity and emotion. Like I could listen to Stevie and feel something. I could listen to Marvin or Donny and feel something. But John does so little vocally, his voice may as well be an afterthought in relation to his production.

What did he do to Ledisi?

Short story. Ledisi and John Legend did a song together on the movie Selma which was a rendition of Mahalia Jackson's "Take My Hand, Precious Lord". Now instead of Ledisi and John Legend performing that onstage, Beyonce stole the performance from Ledisi. John Legend knew and even performed the song with Beyonce at the Grammys. Unfortunately, Ledisi found out at the Grammys in her seat with everyone else. So Beyonce and John Legend stole from Ledisi, stole her shine (and chance to be seen on a national stage), and embarrassed the shyt out of her on national tv. John Legend didn't even have the balls to tell Ledisi ahead of time or even fight for Ledisi to be onstage with Beyonce.

Wow. That’s foul as shyt. I think Beyoncé is a clout chasing scumbag who will do anything for attention. So fukk her, but John should have stood by his co-vocalist. I never liked John and now I got a reason to hate that nikka lol. Ledisi is cool. Smh

I remember this, forgot all about it.

I’ve always felt he was a plant, somebody “chosen” by the establishment...of course he had to do what his bosses said

After his first album, I didn’t really pay attention to him like that. I remember one of my ex’s friend’s daughters have a stunningly powerful review of his first album while we were out somewhere. She said John sounded confused, first he talking about how he don’t love her anymore, cheating, then it’s “I can change”.
