Why do people act like dudes like the Migos or Gucci aren't LYRICALLY talented?

it really shows you IMO how advanced the South is at making MUSIC.

No one else is finding ways to weave through instrumentals like dudes in the south has to this point.

The South created more flows and sonic trends than any other region.

the new south has created no actual new flows, and no new real sonic trends.
all their sonic trends are lifts of early new York based synth compositions.
that were wrapped into the second southern mister magic's and dj jimi mixtapes.
that soon became the 808 backdrop style production of luke/poison clan.

all their artist are amalgamations of past greats from other regions.
excluding scarface, big mike, celo green, project pat, and dro.
of which dro, who is the only next level advanced wordsmith from the region.
barring big mike 's exclusion who is never properly accredited.
with being one of its landmark earliest and greatest emcees in a solo or group perspective with the convicts.

everyone, after that contingent from the south.
lifts Chicago Midwest double time flows from the snypaz.
which were later made by do or die and twista.
or, early fellowship snaked bone flows.
even, outkast were self admitted ripoffs of souls of mischief.

Chicago, and the bay own the south after scarface, and big mike excluding project pat, celo and dro.

even luda is a ripoff of busta rhymes, and early common sense's styles era skillset.
where even common's early skillset is a ripoff of ed og.

so kill the bullshyt...

I know this history, for real.
you are just trying to homer-ize the shyt based on current drawing trends.
which is more about the mecca in new York losing its way culturally in the rap industry.

Just cause someone isn't lyrical, doesn't mean they can't rap. I think Gucci is a below average rapper, but he does have talent.. he's good at what he does and has produced quality verses before, but he's far from lyrical.

Migos, is the furthest thing from lyrical. I like most of their songs, and they can be entertaining.. the flow is nice as well, but they aren't saying anything creative and have a one dimensional subject matter and therefore are no where near lyrical.

The Ummah!
"100 grand stuffed in my shoe box, rockin versace like tupac" the doubles breh, the dualalities, the triple entendres. Migos are lyrical beasts.

Killa Priest is from New York (Brooklyn) ...we're establishing distinguished lyricism in the South. Who doesn't bite in Hip-Hop? Jay-Z bit Big, Nas bit Rakim and Slim Rick ... Migos bit DRAKE's Versace flow. Drake bit Big Sean's "Supa Dupa" flow.

:camby:

sorry, I don't give passes.
jay did bite big, and snoop, and .....and ,..and...
he is a sellout as far back as jaz biting will smith on Hawaiian sophie.
that has been solidified and filed.
so, we know he is a culture thief.

nas did not bite,..rakim.
nas was not guilty of biting till he started biting pac.
while, saying hiphop was dead in the same breath.
drake is a voice over actor, and big sean supplied writing for that dude.
migos is an amalgamated bite of everything from fleshnbone, to Gucci.

the issue with biting in hiphop is.
the talent never actually in general develops their own skillset.
then, the established original core skill guys with their own skillset.
start deviating as well.
that is the issue.
no one using or attempting to actualize their skillsets.

yet, when the mecca goes astray.
the rest of the non-culturized no mores having ass sheep will follow.
that is the issue.

I think the accent and slang got some of ya'lls ears clogged...

Dudes in the south REALLY rap...

I'll never understand the hate outsiders have for south acts.

most people black or white, who criticize rappers, couldnt write a decent rhyme in a hour to save their life

Gucci is more than a below average rapper.
he is an actual technical marvel as an emcee.
not to mention, he actually elongated and advanced the syllable count.
for southern music, before dro came along, as a solo artist.
plus, supplied distinct indepth content on drug selling within that technical base.
that rivals some of the best content wise all time in that exact content or genre.
Gucci's best stuff was just lost on the ear to poor below average mixing in the big cat era.

which is why people dismiss him.
who don't have an ear that comes from long term rap listening.
way before rap was this soundly mixed piece of work given to the public.

if you weren't fukk'n with the edge of the am and fm dials.
you probably don't have the ear to listen to poorly mixed rap.
as this gen, was trained to only accept dre level pristine mixing as acceptable for rap.
when, not to many people have access to larrabee studios in rap.

@Napoleon What did you quote me for then past a bunch of songs I've already heard? I never said I hated Migos and I proudly say Gucci Mane is one of my favorite rappers to listen to, to everyone.

You are mistaking riding a beat well and crafting a hype song with being 'lyrical' No one said Canibus was the de facto lyricism standard. Plenty of rappers are lyrical that are not splitting green gamma rays six ways from sundays or whatever bullshyt Canibus spits.

This song is 'lyrical' due to the concept even though it is very basic in nature as far as the rhyming on the beat goes
