I do that shyt all the time. For some women that's their weak spot.
It doesn't say a particular thing but can be used to convey different messages. Affection, protection, dominance, caring..
It depends on context.

Ive put my arm around shoulders, touched the back of necks. Rubbed the side of it with my hand and my beard, kissed it. Run my hand on the back of the neck and massaged around under the back of her ears on both sides and on the scalp...
The real question should be why not?

I'm surprised people don't know the neck is the cheat code. And I'm surprised at how some people think it's some really pathological thing to do.

The fact the women are cosigning that they love it should say enough. The actions behind it by the men who do it tells you the why. Now combine how the women feel about it and why the men do it and it makes sense.

Dominance, guidance, control, protection, caring, litmus test, to turn her on..

I have in the past held the back of my girls neck when she's super tired at an event or other places, and can barely hold her head up.

It shows an attentiveness to her that I'm aware and concerned about how she's feeling. When her head drops and she's tired and needs my support or a massage I can feel her on my finger tips without even turning my head.

It gives more feedback and more comfort than hands around someone's shoulder which everyone does. And it's not a static thing like your hand is stuck there the whole time. It's flexible with the arms bent so are close to each other and you can easily switch and move down to put your arm around her shoulder. You can easily move up and massage her scalp from there too. You can easily reach further and get to her ears. It's actually a good resting point to have your hand so you can do different things. If need be take control and lead her.

You get it. I'm as normal as they come nowadays, I wasn't abused or molested or treated poorly, I just like to feel supported.

I do it sometimes, but I can't say I've seen other guys do it But it might just be because I'm not paying attention. I don't think guys spend a lot of time observing other couples.
