Its simply steroids more than likely, this was a nice fluff piece. But they are basically trying to say Jamaicans are just athletically superior to everyone else:comeon:
Then throwing in "Bu bu but they come from nothing". Well, that is based on perception, but nice try.

A Jamaican who lives in Jamaica is used to his environment and may feel no need to escape it ,even if its in poverty. Somebody in a hood in America could easily feel more deprived than a Jamaican in worst conditions. To say poor black Americans don't feel the same pressure of being broke as Jamaicans do is ridiculous. Your not going to convince anybody with sense that a poor kid in America may not see track as their best hope too when they excell at it.

If what these posters say is true, they would've just had great times off the rip. Not dramatically improved their previous times out the blue. Your program got that much better than Americas overnight it sounds like:sas2:. Thats a far cry from "the poverty made us great:mjcry:"..

Did you get poorer that year your time magically improved so greatly lol?

Victor Conte involved in the BALCO scandal that got US Athletics caught up? And baseball? That guy?

Stop chat foolishness bout overnight. Track has been a culture for Jamaicans since the 1940's

This would come on television daily, inspiring many.

Merlene Ottey inspired this current generation,. If it wasn't for doped up Americans, she would have had a couple gold medals to her name. Track Queen, the first woman to do it big, consistently from the late 70s to early 90s

Finally

Jamaicans have been running track since forever. It's not now they winning medals. So you saying that these ultra-secret labratories that produce undetectable drugs that perform better than anything Russia, China or the USA has ever made is coming from a third-world country....should be stuff of legends. We probably have Wakanda secret technology up in the blue mountains as well :comeon:

Also Girls and Boys champs , there is no event like it in the world. All the best high schoolers across the island come together for 4 days of intense competition. The best of the best are weeded out here.

at 14 years old Tina Clayton ran 11.27. Yesterday Shacarri ran 11.14.

Seriously I was just asking myself this
Because Jamaica was the most profitable country
during the slave trade, and had the highest turn over of slaves being killed, succumbing to tbe harsh circumstances of working 12-16 hour days.

Hence, only the strongest gene pools survived and the weak gene pools were wiped out. We're a super people.

And just for comparison, Jamaica has a population of 2 million. (drops mic)

the same way a college football game attracts viewership...jamaican sprinting competitions fill up stadiums which increases expectations and only the best even make it out of high school and college

Most black youths in Jamaica who play sports usually either do cricket, soccer or track and field. The same way black youths from America usually play play basketball, football or boxing. Or black youths in Africa play soccer. Its just a cultural thing. Also black west african descendent people are naturally physically and mentally superior people to others :umad:.

Kenyan here. Don't need an explanation on the rift valley

What is rarer oxygen bro?
Rare oxygen means the air is thin, as it is commonly the case in places with high elevation. Example: "The air is quite rare near the top of the mountain".

I don't know what is your problem though, so I'll let it go :hubie:

Above the fray.
I'm a long time track fan. Person in the thread just asked why the "recent" JA domination of sprints. Track fans know that technically it's not recent. JA born and descent runners have been medal finalists at Olympics for decades. Sometimes running under CAN, UK, or USA flag. Donovan Bailey,. Linford Christie, and Sanya Richards-Ross were all Jamaican born, for example.
The current/recent medalists are "from yard" now, and not from their diaspora

How would that select for genes related to running fast though? Wouldn't that select for endurance?

Didn't watch the clip but they try harder. You see kids running in bare feet in track meets for 10 year olds. Fast kids get identified and delveloped at a yong age. Usain Bolt wasn't thought of as particularly fast in High school but they kept working with him and her got better over time.

Speed is endurance, I know sprinting isn't endurance but the fastest runners have the best starts. They say that the chick who won the silver actually has a more explosive first step than Usain Bolt pound for pound. Needless to say leg strength was helpful in sugar factories.
