Bro I think you're projecting at this point. I stated knowledge based work is much more difficult than physical based work and you seem to be the only person in this equation that's offended by that comment. Hide behind all the smileys you want, but your reach towards "occupational supremacy" says it all, and until you actually get a job doing high end knowledge based work (and I don't believe your coli cap either), you have no idea what you're talking about and are speaking on complete ignorance.

Who's hiding behind anything? I'm telling you the exact feedback your delusions have led me to.

There's nothing more to argue here. You actually believe you leave your workplace more drained of energy than a farmer, rancher, or oil rig worker. The rest of your babble isn't even worth debating if you're willing to steadfastly hold onto those delusions :francis:

Mental labor and physical labor both present their own challenges. Granted, both my positions were low-skill and entry level, but I had a lot less stress as a janitor than I did as a youth counselor

It’s something satisfying to the psyche to see the fruits of your labor. A lot of physical jobs are cut-and-dry. Building, cleaning, extracting, etc all boil down to “I pick things up and put them down”

As opposed to a task that involves a lot less intangible things and more take-home problems

Never had anyone in the janitor biz call me up to complain about something that happened off my time, but working in people care you get that all the time

I mean you come in here insulting me, name calling, and using a bunch of smileys to try to mask your clear feelings of inferiority. Somehow you're offended by the fact that knowledge work is immensely more draining than physical work. This was never really a discussion in the first place, idk who you are in life or who raised you to believe this is how those things work, but it's free and your right to act like a whiny bytch on the internet I guess. Get your shyt off bro.

I see this at my job now. State government jobs paying folks to sit behind a desk with great benefits and a pension that starts to kick in after 10 years and people be turning these jobs down if it’s not full time wfh
The problem with state/fed jobs is that they take forever to get onboarded. Even internal positions take a minute to get. I'm just now getting "Are you still interested?" emails from positions I've applied to in June of last year. :francis:

You ain’t have to post this response, just say you don’t want to compete in life and that you’re entitled.
Nah I’m on lunch rn at my job, but to say people are lazy is just a lazy response, not the sky high groceries at the moment and overall the rising cost of living. Your lazy response got a lazy answer

I've worked in a factory, I've wfh as a knowledge based worked. Physical labor is 1000xs easier than mental labor. It's not even close. Anything physical is easier than mental.
This is 1000% true and I'm 6 cert breh...mental exhaustion is a complete different beast than physical exhaustion.

You are absolutely right about that. That really is up to the supervisor or director of whatever unit is hiring for that positions. Some of them move slow or there’re HR issues. But personally for my staff I’ve offered positions to people less than a week after they interviewed and they’ve turned them down. I was short staffed for over a year. I’m just now getting to a full staff for the first time since 2021 smh

Also a larger safety net. Many of these government safety net social programs didn't exist in the 50s and early 60s. So if your momma was single or your dad died wasn't no CHIP for your ass as a kid. Since no child health program as a kid you may have had rotten teeth and no food in the home, no glasses, might even had other illnesses cause your single parent couldn't afford or had health care.

Folks forget all these social safety nets didn't exist as they exist now. Yes, things are more expensive but its balanced out with other programs as safety nets.

For example right now if you are low income the state will assist with paying for child care at a qualified daycare center paying up to 70%. Back in the 50s wasn't none of that shyt. You a low income parent you leaving them kids with a neighbor or auntie where they will sit in front of a TV cause the adult watching them is not an early child care teacher.

They didn’t need as many safety nets back then because things weren’t so precarious.

You graduated high school and got a job for life.

Back then there was majority 2 parent households so your wife stayed home to take care of the kids.

You are imagining what current social architecture (I.e. low income single parents) would have looked like in the past and you would be right but family structure was different back then.

I've worked everywhere on the spectrum from being in hot ass factorys chucking boxes around with ex-cons and to coding from home.

Mental exhaustion is a bytch but the shyt the physical labor jobs put you through. :whew: Movers have it the worst. I always thought it was fukked up how the most grueling, labor intense, yet socially necessary jobs pay the least. What a world we live in
