From the beginning.

Early 80s (pre modern dancehall)

Late 80s -post Jammy's influence.

Anything after the duck dance riddim is considered modern dancehall.

Wether you like the early 90s/mid to late 90s
Early passa passa of the early to mid 2000s
To the afrobeat influenced dancehall that's out now its all the same shyt.

He's kinda right dates are off by a lot but dancehall has peaked.

Can't find a comedian artists like snagg puss or red rat. Serious ghetto yute chat from bounty. Gallis like Beanie, and Rasta like Capleton or a herbalist like Richie Spice on a single riddims anymore.

Also no more super groups or groups popping up together. Last group that burst on the scene and caused noise was Scare Dem Crew or the Alliance.

Dancehall needs variety again.

Too much of the same ting.

Late 00s dancehall had some riddims that just had hits over hits. Check track listings for artist names and titles. Conscious riddims/tunes is a whole other list.

Movie Star riddim. Standouts: Kartel, Ryno, both Mavado tunes, Elephant Man will murder any riddim.

Trippple Bounce riddim. Standouts: Chino/Genius, both Kartel tunes, Beenie, Mavado, Ele again, Vegas.

Day Rave riddim. Standouts: Mavado, the Kartel/JahVinci tune is meh but Jahvinci's chorus makes it worth it, Ryno, Ele/Ding Dong. Missing from the mix is Busy Signal, added below.

Sixteen riddim. Bugle/Serani, Mavado and especially Bounty Killer. Don't even bother with anything else.

12 Gauge riddim. Standouts: Killer/Aidonia, Killer by himself. All else is filler.

Shoot Out riddim. Standouts: Demarco, Mykal Rose, Mykal Rose/Damian Marley refix, Busy Signal, Buju, Demarco/Elephant Man.

Dance hall is truly a great genre of music, at least the early 00’s stuff, I don’t know much from today. When that nikka was bleaching his skin heavy and he was the biggest star I stoped listening to that shyt:francis:
Kudos for BET on Sunday afternoons for putting me on as a kid:obama:
